Key facts:
Glutathione, also known as the “Master of all Antioxidants”, is a substance that is made up of three amino acids (glutamine, cysteine and glycine) existing in almost every cell in the body. It plays a vital role in protecting cells from oxidative stress, detoxifying harmful substances, and supporting immune function.
Although non-essential, meaning the body can produce it, glutathione levels can be depleted by aging, chronic diseases (eg. Diabetes, cancer), poor diet, environmental toxins, stress and infections.
To boost your levels, eat sulphur rich foods (eg. garlic and broccoli), lean proteins such as chicken, and fish, take supplements, exercise regularly, and reduce toxin exposure.
